Arnav Verma – Managing Partner

Arnav is an economist and analyst specializing in financial forecasting, economic research, and quantitative analysis. He draws on professional experience spanning public finance, private operations, and investment management. He founded Northern Analysis to extend institutional-level support to Alaska’s businesses and government agencies. He and his team provide ongoing senior analyst support and develop custom finance and technology solutions to help organizations succeed.
Alongside his work with Northern Analysis, Arnav serves as a petroleum economist for the State of Alaska. He leads the Department of Revenue’s fiscal planning efforts, designing the models used to forecast state finances under current and alternative fiscal structures. He develops analysis predicting the impact of petroleum and non-petroleum tax policy decisions, conducts revenue forecasting on nearly all of the state’s revenue sources, and evaluates current and proposed commercial projects throughout the state.
Before moving into public economics, Arnav worked in the operational core of Alaska’s economy. As a maritime operations manager, he led petroleum import and export operations in Anchorage and Valdez, and cruise ship operations in Whittier, Seward and Kodiak. He later served as a procurement officer for the Municipality of Anchorage, purchasing and contracting in support of all 31 city departments.
He began his career at Morgan Stanley, where he advanced to become the lead portfolio analyst for a $3 billion portfolio at one of the nation’s top wealth management groups. During his tenure, he executed over $200 million in new investment activity, and led the team’s data analysis, market research, and financial reporting projects.
Arnav graduated from Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business through the honors program. Outside of work, he enjoys backcountry skiing, rock climbing, ice climbing, and picking up the occasional jazz piano gig at local Anchorage haunts.

Darrin Miller – Senior Partner

Darrin is a software developer focused on machine learning techniques for tabular data analysis. His experience spans academic research, startups, and enterprise level software projects. He seeks to develop practical, cutting-edge solutions that allow organizations to take full advantage of their data, and develop the tools they need to succeed in an ever-changing world.
In addition to his work with Northern Analysis, Darrin works as a software consultant for major state level software projects. Most recently, he has consulted on the Alaska Modernization Project, developing an entirely new Child Support Enforcement System used by Alaska CSED that recently went live (Fall 2025) and achieved federal certification in record time. He worked directly with CSED defining and developing critical subsystems and reporting tools related to child support order establishment and enforcement.
Prior to transitioning into enterprise consulting and large-scale software development, Darrin conducted machine learning research focused on tabular data analysis. He and his team’s research led to publications in leading journals such as IEEE and Towards Data Science. In addition to his research, he has worked with several startups to develop initial products and proof of concepts.
Darrin graduated with Honors from Colorado Mesa University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a focus on machine learning. When he’s able to step away from work, he enjoys rock climbing, hiking, traveling, tinkering with new gadgets and keeping up with the latest software trends.
Kai Myers – Senior Partner

Kai is an environmental scientist and glacier researcher specializing in numerical modeling, field research, and applied environmental analysis. His work combines climate science and resource planning, and is focused on problems where Alaska’s natural systems shape long-term decisions about water, energy, and infrastructure. He joined Northern Analysis to bring this work to organizations where both modeling depth and field experience matter.
Alongside his work with Northern Analysis, Kai is pursuing a Masters of Science in Environmental Science at Alaska Pacific University. His NASA-funded thesis examines whether Dixon Glacier on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula has reached peak meltwater flow — with direct implications for the proposed hydroelectric expansion of Bradley Lake. The work combines three field seasons on the glacier with numerical modeling. Kai presented this research at the 2025 American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting as well as at the 2025 NASA Alaska Space Grant Conference.
Kai also worked as an environmental scientist at RESCON Alaska, performing remedial investigations at remote contaminated sites and modernizing the team’s field workflows. Prior to that, he served as an environmental technician for the Washington State Department of Agriculture, collecting surface water data and reporting to EPA systems.
Kai began his career in Alaskan industry as a deckhand on a Bristol Bay fishing vessel, followed by three winters as a professional ski patroller at Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah, where he mitigated avalanche hazard using high explosives and provided medical care to injured guests. That experience continues to shape his analytical work: he built and maintains AvyComparison, an iOS app that lets backcountry travelers compare avalanche forecasts alongside live weather and forecast data.
Kai graduated from Quest University with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences concentrated in Environmental Science. Outside of work, he kayaks on the Kenai, skis in the Chugach, dipnets on the Copper, and volunteers with local mountain rescue and K9 SAR organizations.
Ziona Rose – Senior Partner

Ziona Rose is an environmental scientist and analyst with experience in technical sales strategy, quantitative research, and field operations. Her work spans climate resilience projects, environmental monitoring systems, and remote operations in Alaska and beyond. She helps organizations interpret complex environmental data and turn it into practical proposals, cost estimates, and technology solutions.
Alongside her research work, Ziona serves as a Technical Sales Specialist and Field Coordinator for beadedstream in Anchorage. In this role, she develops proposals and budget forecasts for environmental monitoring systems and supports the planning needed to deploy telemetry networks in challenging field conditions. She works closely with clients and technical teams to review project needs, recommend appropriate product configurations, and support accurate, cost-effective deployments.
Before moving into technical sales and private-sector operations, Ziona worked in the global sustainability sector. As an analyst for the Center of Applied Studies in Edolo, Italy, she contributed to the EU-funded Mount Resilience Project, conducting research and data analysis to support climate action planning for eight regional demonstration areas. She completed more than 300 literature and data reviews and collaborated with international teams to prepare reports and weekly stakeholder presentations.
Ziona began her career in data-intensive field research. As a technician for the National Ecological Observation Network (NEON) in Fairbanks, she contributed to DoD-funded research examining pathogens released through permafrost thaw. For this work, she received the Outstanding Performance Award from Battelle Memorial Institute.
Ziona graduated from Whitworth University. Her university experience includes attending COP29, the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference, and presenting invasive species research at the Spokane Intercollegiate Research Conference. Outside of her analytical work, she is an experienced outdoor leader who has guided backcountry expeditions throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
